Fighting Food Insecurity through Better Nutrition
Shopping with Dignity and Anonymity
Feeding Heart and Soul
Our local Walmarts in Tacoma and Lakewood are answering the call to end food insecurity during these trying times.
Look for our food collection bins at both store locations from June 9th - June 15th.
Non-perishable items such as canned goods, beans, rice and grains, shelf-stable milk and pasta are much appreciated!
The Hope Market name reflects the hope we inspire in those we serve through our market-style food pantries.
We believe in dignity through nutritious, culturally, and dietarily relevant food choices for everyone without discrimination.
We are currently open on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, 10am -1pm
Doors close to shoppers at 12:50pm to facilitate flow. Please get in line early!
The Tacoma Hope Market provides food security through it's partnerships with:
Tacoma Hope Market Manager Cynthia Whitney is THRILLED with our new shipment of canned corn and green beans from the
Lakewood Walmart Supercenter
Our area Walmart Stores have met the call to feed hungry people in Tacoma and have expedited
several pallets of non-perishable foods. Today, we received our first shipment and Tacoma Hope Market as well as
Food Warehouse volunteers couldn't have been happier.
Thank you, Walmart, for working beside us to get the job done!
Because of the cost of food and lack of Federal funding, Tacoma Hope Market is needing help from the community
make sure those in need are still receiving food. People struggling to make ends meet often have to choose
between food and rent or food and life-sustaining medications, just a name a couple of examples.
The staff and volunteers at Tacoma Hope Market continue their dedication to providing food for those in need.
As we look for other funding sources so that we can meet the need, we invite you to make meaningful contributions of food.
You can find a list of foods we're now accepting here.
We ask that you drop off your donations of shelf-stable foods at the following places and times:

Salvation Army Citadel Corps: 1110 S Puget Sound Ave., Tacoma, WA 98404, Sundays, 10:30am - 12pm
Call Monday - Friday between 9am - 4pm at 253-572-8452 for alternate drop-off methods.
We respectfully ask that you avoid donating foods
that are perishable, past their sell by date,
or that have been opened.
Hope Market provides a variety of foods that are nutritious, culturally appropriate, dietarily diverse, and fun to eat! We offer an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables as well as healthy commodities such as dried beans, pasta, rice, oatmeal, cereals, and so much more that provide shelf life as well as good health. We also have canned goods, pet foods, baked goods, snacks, beverages, and some treats for kids and adults alike.
At Tacoma Hope Market, Thursday, May 29th.
We will have Reser's Main Street Twice Baked Potatoes and Hillshire Farm Lit'l Smokies while supplies last.

We're already starting to make changes to Hope market that will reflect our mission of serving those in need without discrimination.
We're adding reach-in freezer and refrigerator units as well as rolling shelving that allow our shoppers to make choices for
themselves in a way that reflects a traditional shopping experience. We've also added the ability to scan our participants in without the
need of pen and paper data collection. This allows our guests anonymity, the lack of which can represent a strong barrier against food security.
In the coming months, you will see new signage and we'll be updating our look.
We want to invite the public to contact us at any time with questions regarding Hope Market's operation and upgrade plans. Please contact us
by email if you would like a tour.
We will continue to move forward with improvements as resources allow.
Because we want our market participants to enjoy nutritious foods they may not be used to cooking, we have come
up with a fun way to share recipes that work with the items we offer. We will offer Tacoma Hope Market collected recipes
binders to each household while supplies last. Each week, a new recipe will be available to shoppers based on current offerings,
andit will be hole-punched and ready to go in your binder. It's a great way to collect healthy recipes that you can add to your own family favorites.
Suggestions are always welcome!
You don't have to shop at Hope Market to collect recipes. Please feel free to check here each week
to download recipes you might like to try! We've even included the cover sheet for your own notebook.
